Summer 2020
Kerry Shelanski owns and is the principal consultant at KS Communications, a PR and marketing firm specializing in communications for the commercial real estate, retail, utility, and financial services industries.
For more than 20 years, Kerry, Molly and the KS team have been helping clients boost their reputations and engagement among key audiences with smart strategy, spot-on messaging and great writing.
Kerry is an active member of the Denver community. Recent roles include two terms as a board member of Jewish Family Service of Colorado and parent chair of DEFT, Denver East High School’s highly competitive speech and debate program.
With a BA in English and MA in Journalism from New York University, Kerry moved to Denver in 1994. After four years at The Rowland Company, a top NYC PR agency with clients ranging from MasterCard and DuPont to the Scotch Whisky Association, she was an easy hire for JohnstonWells, then Colorado’s largest PR firm.
Kerry started KS Communications in 1997, shortly after her first child, Liliana, was born. Today life is loud and the dinner table full, as all three of Kerry’s children variously live at home and away at college/law school.
Lately, Kerry has been getting competitive on her Ergatta WaterRower and loves spending time in the backyard writing, reading and feeling inspired by her kids and their array of friends – the 20-something charmers, coders, activists, future lawyers, teachers, bankers, someday doctors and artists each is becoming. Or, rather, will become when they can get back to their lives (and stop sitting on Kerry’s patio, drinking all the White Claws).
